CSS™ Industries, Inc The Paper Magic Group™ INC Eureka™ Vertical   Welcome To Class Banner measuring 45 x 12 inches is a satisfying, security producing reception sight for Little Learners as they enter the Osage County Elementary building.  And, this welcome banner is a nice companion to the WELCOME BOOKMARKS.

This banner appears as a larger version of the BookMarks.  At the top of the piece is a  little red school house complete with bell tower, surrounded with trees and a huge pumpkin at the front of the building.  WELCOME appears in over sized cobalt letters outlined with ginger TO CLASS is in cobalt at the bottom of the banner.  Directly above the TO CLASS are found two slim books, one crimson, one cerulean, standing atop the books are a scarlet, sharpened pencil, carroty fountain pen and chartreuse rule.  Above the pen, pencil and rule is a spiral bound notebook having blue lined white pages across which is written School’s Exciting, in cursive handwriting. 

Perched above the spiral bound notebook are three thick tomes, two are red, and the center one is emerald.  Above the books rest a pair of scissors and a snazzy compass, topping all is a tempting ruby apple with a pretty jade leaf.

Formulated of full-bodied, durable cardstock paper produced per industry governmental safety standards from carefully chosen raw materials to create a harmless, acid free formula and then printed with child pleasing, vibrant colors using non-hazardous inks for use in situations where children can be expected to be present; this particular banner is just the size to fit the wall immediately adjacent to our Osage County First Grade doorway. 

Even though Osage County First Grade has seen me all during their pre K and Kindergarten years; Little Learners have seen me on the playground and have some awareness that First Grade will be spent in the Elementary building as opposed to the Kindergarten center which is across the - Little Kids – playground from the Elementary building.  

The Elementary building itself is pretty intimidating to Little People as they move from the shelter and protection of the smaller Kindergarten center to come to spend the day, all day, every day WITH THE BIG KIDS and a new teacher.

For the reason that ours is one of the half century+ aged WPA schools having a central corridor with various sized classrooms and other spaces opening off the hallway; Osage County First Grade has both an entry and exit door.  Osage County First Grade is the classroom just to the left of the entry door opening onto the quad where children play.

I like having friendly, child focused signs, pictures and the like in sight, in the corridor as Little Learners enter the building; and especially so for the first few days of the new term.   The Kinder and Pre Ks do come over to the Elementary building each week for their Library time so they are not entirely overcome with trepidation come August and the beginning of the new school term;  however, close enough.
