Pros: Top quality construction, canopy for protection
Cons: A bit more expensive, but worth it.
My husband and I decided it was time to start doing a lot more of the activities we used to before we had the baby. We've tried the stroller--cheap ones, expensive ones -- the front carriers, the old fashioned way (just holding the baby) and just about everything else to help us become more "mobile".
So after lots of recommendations by various people, we checked out all the backpack type carriers we could find at the local stores. Most were priced in the $45 to $75 range, and we felt at the time that PRICE was our biggest driver, along with quality. Suddenly it dawned on us....DUH...we HAVE to get one with a canopy. Here we are with plans to go walk the pebbly beaches, do some trail hiking, and just get our outdoor mobility back in general when the light went on "what about the elements?". As all Moms (and Dads) know, babies burn easily, and we all want that "mothering" protection from the wind and occasional summer thunderstorm.
MOST of the models we checked out did NOT have a canopy. The Evenflo Trail Blazer did! OK, it was more expensive than most other models. We paid $88 dollars off the internet including shipping. Most stores sell this model for about $99. The extra features add a little more cost but they're well worth it.
Speaking of features, it wasn't just the canopy that won us over. The thick, high-impact plastic frame was VERY sturdy yet lightweight. Plus, there was an extra large pouch for all the baby necessities....diapers, wipes, snacks, etc. and extra padding for the lower back. Our baby weighs a little over 20 lbs now. This pack has no problem distributing his weight, making it as comfortable as possible.
In addition, it is easily adjustable and fits both my husband (who is 6'1") and me (5'8"). Plus the fold out stand makes loading, unloading, and taking a break easy.
We've only had the pack for a few months, but already wonder why we didn't buy it several months ago. We have a lot more freedom now. And our baby boy loves it.
