| ejjiii's Full Review: Samuel Adams (Boston Beer Company) |
On one of my many trips to Boston, I decided to visit the Samuel Adams Brewery on Germania Street in Boston. I had found a map and tour information conveniently printed on the bottom of a Sammy six pack carton.
The Brewery is actually the historic Heffenreffer Brewery, well known to most long time Boston residents. The Brewery is now the home Brewery of the Boston Beer Co. Inside, you get a video history of the Koch family's beer making history, and a guided tour which covers Boston's long and fascinating history as a beer brewing capital. Samuel Adams is mostly brewed at other breweries, although this is their R&D brewery, where they come up with new types of beer. At the end of the tour, there is a bar-motif room to try out samples of the different beers, and a store to buy Samuel Adams clothes, glassware, etc.
I would also recommend checking out Doyle's Cafe, which is a few blocks down in Jamaica Plain. They were testing a new Samuel Adams Beer when I was visiting. The Cafe is a JP landmark, having been founded in 1882.
