| justinhutchins's Full Review: Samuel Adams (Boston Beer Company) |
Sam Adams offers free, (they do ask for a dollar donation) tours three days a week. The best part of the tour, obviuosly, is the samples of beer.
However, they make you wait for it, of course, but it's not all bad. When I went I saw a video of the owner of Sam Adams talking about the history of his Sam Adams and his family in beer. It was mildly entertaining, but we were all really waiting to sample the beer.
A tour guide then brought us through the brewery. It's a very small. Most of their beer is made out of Boston. The guide seemed to know what he was talking about, and he dished out some interesting information, and joked about how he knew we were all just waiting to sample the beer, which was quite true.
After the informative tour, everyone is ushered into a bar which isn't really a bar at all. I mean it is a bar, but only used for the tours. This is a shame, since I live in the area, and wouldn't mind walking down to the brewery to get a cold one.
Pitchers were passed around, and once one was finished, we went on to another kind of beer. In all, we were served four different types of beer, all of which were fairly common in the liquor stores, unfortunately.
We even got to keep our four ounce glass as a souviner.
All in all, if you like Sam Adams, it's a cool little tour, highlighted by the free beer. If the small amount of beer offered doesn't satisfy, the tour guides encourage people to make their way down to Doyle's, which is a really interesting bar with a lot of beer on tap.
