I visited Schramsberg during May of 1998 on a weekend getaway. Schramsberg was the last of five wineries I visited that day, and was by far, the best experience. The caves were a spectacular site and the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the location as well as the champagne production and bottling process.
The best part, however, was the tasting. We sampled the Blanc de Noir, Noir de Noir, and Cremant. And these "samples" were full glasses of champagne, so abundant that I could not drink the entire sample because I had driven to the location. This was an unforgettable experience.
And guess what my friends and family got for the holidays this year! That's right, everyone got a bottle of Schramsberg Cremant, my favorite champagne. I also got a few more bottles for myself. If you're interested in tasting the best northern California champagne, put Schramsberg on your list!!!
