theshelley's Full Review: Arbor Mist Strawberry White Zinfandel
Arbor Mist Strawberry White Zinfandel is a sweet, light-tasting, easily drinkable wine that is versatile enough to be used for a variety of occasions. As an occasional drinker, I am hardly an alcoholic beverage expert because I don't particularly care for the taste of hard liquor, most beers, and a am SO FAR from a wine connoisseur that it is not even funny. Red goes with red meat, white goes with chicken. That is about all I know, which is okay because I don't care for the taste of most of them anyway.
Arbor Mist offers a variety of fruit and wine combinations ranging from chardonnay to merlot, peach to blackberry. Strawberry White Zinfandel is a light "wine" that vaguely resembles a wine-taste, I guess (although not like any Zinfandel I'VE ever tried). It is lightly carbonated. And yes, it tastes like strawberries. Think wine cut with kool-aid, or think wine cooler with less "sugary" taste. Also, for some reason this wine seems to have a different chemical reaction in terms of male taste buds and female taste buds. Every male I've ever watched try this stuff gags and proclaims a new, creative, 4-letter-rich description of what this wine tastes like. Ok, that's an embellishment, I've never actually seen a man drink this wine. :) Just kidding, guys.
This wine is great for social events, backyard parties, bringing over to a casual friends house (friends with whom you are close enough to bring over a $4.00 per bottle wine and they won't laugh or be offended). I've had this wine with meals, but more often I find I prefer to drink it by itself in social situations (that might just be me not knowing what the appropriate thing is to drink it with). It is great for the I'm-just glad-there's-alcohol-at-this-party kind of crowd. Or, it is a nice excuse sometimes to break out our collection of wine glasses and dust them off. Also, the Arbor Mist website offers suggestions about how to use the wine in specialty drinks, and mixing for punches. We tried it in a punch once, but didn't use their recipe and kind of "faked it". It turned out okay.
This is a light wine that is easy to drink. It is probably not for hard-core wine connoisseurs. It is a pleasant relative in the wine cooler family, and is a nice alternative to beer. Strawberry White Zinfandel and the other Arbor Mist wines are a nice choice for casual, social occasions.
