Pros: Fairly inexpensive. Interesting to try.
Cons: Pretty average. Not really a horrible wine, but super Hollywood hyped.

Yes... that'd be Louis Martini. Used to drink their wines in the 80's. Haven't picked up to many of their wines in recent years. Don't see them in So. Cal. stores anymore.

You're right. I should be more careful in my comments. But the Coppola wines are really marketed -- its a huge sales job starting a new winery. I hear Mario Andretti, the race car driver, has a winery going now in Napa. You connected to him, too? eh, eh... thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Cheers,

Dear 4-1-1: Even though I am a member, for some crazy reason, of both the Coppola and the Ernie Van Asperen wine families (so, watch out), I must agree. Coppola's wines are really hyped.

I recently found a bottle of 1997 Martini Zinfandel at Trader Joe's for $3.99. Now there's a buy. Martini, as you know, is across the street from Coppola, as it were. Recommended.

I should review wines, but most of the time, I just like how they taste with food, and have a poor wine "memory."

Regards.

$8.00 For Any Wine Sounds Like a Bargain to Me... (Reply to this comment)

Oh...you're talking U.S. dollars? I'll have to cash in a savings bond and save up my Canadian peso's for a bottle. As you no doubt know, alcohol is heavily taxed in Canada so it's a bit of a treat to even think about buying a bottle under $10.00 that isn't better suited to be vinegarette dressing. I'll have to get you to pick me up a case or two of Francis's wines. Whose zoomin' who? Great line.

Gasman

You rule for reading and commenting. Yes... Francis Coppola has been in the wine biz for a while now. The Niebaum-Coppola winery in Oakville, Napa Valley, is a beautiful facility... if you like wineries that look like tourist attractions.

Cheers!

Your title RULES! :) That was a great read. I never knew Francis Ford was into squishing grapes and fermenting them.

Great review!
