Great job: a lot of good information, well-written, pleasure to read. Please post some more reviews in the wine section.

Blasphemy! (Reply to this comment)

In a discussion on Sauternes, Chateau d'Yquem is misspelled!
Nice review though.

that you have corrected the spelling of Chateau d'Yquem. Definitely highly recommended.
Great job.

Outstanding review! (Reply to this comment)
by TxGrapeGuy
However, it presented me with an internal conflict. On the one hand I would like it if my children were to remain children forever (typical dad thing.) On the other, I'm now just a bit more anxious for my daughter to graduate from high school in another 6 1/2 years so we can finally open that bottle of Chateau Rieussec '89 I bought for her! Such a dilemma ;-)

You have just raised the bar for the rest of us who attempt to write wine reviews...I hope you enjoyed the wine as much as I enjoyed reading your opinion about it.

That is a good bottle! When you do pop open a bottle...email me some! In 6 and 1/2 years it should be superb!
I have a 90 d'Yquem for when I graduate in 3.5 years. I have a feeling that it might be openned for the first anniversary however (1.5 years).

Re: What is the best way to store a bottle of Sauternes? (Reply to this comment)
by bdolcourt
Store just like any other bottle. Make sure the cork is wet, keep at 55 degrees and about 65-75% relative humidity (I think, you can check at the Wine Spectator website). Since Sauternes are more likely to be stored for awhile, proper storage is very important.
