Pros: Major credit card, cash back bonus, polite customer service when bill is paid.
Cons: Has some charges that pop up out of thin air.
The Bottom Line: Good card, good service, can cost you in the long run.

I became a Discover card holder in 1999. This was my first major credit card. For that reason my Apr was high 22.9%. Being young I didnt realize how high that actually is. After promptly spending money with my darling husbands help, I recieved a bill. The bill quickly doubled in the months to come.
After coming to the reality that the bill has to be paid. I promptly paid the minimum due, which is all I could afford at that time. They charged a whopping $29.00 late fee. When looking closer at the bill. Paying the minimum due enabled me to pay off $1.20 off the balance.Oh yeah!
Of course after struggling to pay I called the customer service, after months of no help, I spoke to someone who set up a payment plan and lowered my Apr to 9.9%. Much better then before. I still have that apr and realize how important timely payment are.

some 5.00 misc. fees

The bills are easy to read with the account summary and payment history.
Customer service is great, however only if bills are paid. If you are late, you will be punished with this card.
Recently I've noticed that many places are only accepting Visa and mastercard, I dont know why that is. Yet at one time when I began to make a purchase the store owner told me Dicover never paid them and they will no longer accept that card. That is the only trouble Ive had.
You can pay your bill over the phone or on the website, but beware they may not tell you they charge $1.00 for the convenience. I found that out later.
Good card, watch the fees, and pay close attention to bill.
