Pros: No annual fee, Great Customer Service, Convenient Payment Options
Cons: Not accepted everywhere!
The Bottom Line: For Good, Personable Service Discover is the way to go! I would definitely recommend having a second card (MasterCard or Visa) so that you're covered if Discover's not accepted!

My Discover Card was my very First Credit Card. I received in college (1994) and although I had no job, I had a small weekly allowance, which was good enough for them to issue me a very modest credit limit of $500! Seven years later, I have a Platinum Card, with a much larger credit limit, and although I have 2 other credit cards (Mastercard and Visa) I use my other cards ONLY if Discover isn't accepted!
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Unlike most corporations, when you call 1-800-Discover, you get a REAL PERSON! And 95% of the time, they are well trained, and exceptionally helpful! Over the years I have had several "emergencies" while traveling (needed cash and didn't have my PIN....forgot my card while on vacation..lost my card..etc..), and the personal service that I have received has really impressed me! In my personal experience No other credit card company has been as easy to work with as Discover!!
CONVENIENT PAYMENT METHODS
Besides mailing your check for payment you can make a cash or a check payment at any SEARS store, OR you can make an ONLINE payment with no extra charge!!! The beauty of making a payment at a Sears Store or Online is that it is credited immediately! And the actual statement is easy to read, with a decent font size, which means you can actually read over it once, finding what you need, without the bifocals!

Since Sept. 11th Discover is offering (at no extra charge) a special card with an American Flag on it
Supporting Charities
Discover is regularly involved in special charities, at no cost to their customers, donating a certain amount per transaction to the selected Charity of the Month.
