Pros: easy online access, email verification and notification service
Cons: the way discover handles payments over a certain amount, not so much cash back
The Bottom Line: My final recommendation is for you to try Discover Card and see for yourself how much cash back points you can earn by the end of the year.

| mahmed18's Full Review: Discover Card |
Naturally, before applying for my Discover card I wanted to read reviews (on e-pinions) about what other people have to say about the card. As with other cash back cards, I read about the certain rates of cash back you get depending on how much you spend. But after getting the card, I found out about things that other reviewers did not mention. Maybe I should.
As other reviewers mention, you get VERY LITTLE cash back with the discover card. Since last November every month my balance would rack up anywhere from 600$ to 1900$ dollars a month. And so far, according to my last statement, my cash back bonus award is only around 24.00$!! I think if I kept the money I spent in a savings account and took out little by little from that account I would at least make a couple of hundred dollars even with the declining of interest rates. Better than nothing? No, I'd rather have nothing!
Other than the ridiculous cash back amounts I find it hard to believe how naive Discover is about payments made over $1,000.00. I remember the first time I placed a payment, it was for a little over $1,800.00 it took 10 days before discover added that amount back to my credit line. I find it hard to believe that a bank would take my money from my bank account and still wait another 10 days before giving me back that credit on my credit card. I thought it was just me but when I asked a couple of my co-workers they mentioned they seemed to not have paid any attention to it. I am always on the Internet; I check my balances at least every other day and make sure nothing 'fishy' is going on with my credit cards and checking/savings accounts. So when I see something wrong, right away I try to fix it. So with my first payment that was made over $1,000.00 that was hard to bear! I called customer service and they assured me that it is only the first payment made to discover over the amount of $1,000.00 that takes so long because they need to make sure that my back account not only has the money, but that money in my bank account isn’t the result of bad checks being deposited and only 'limited credit' is in my account. Ok so they have to be careful...but wait, don’t they check my credit report before issuing me my credit card??
Despite the two 'incontinences' I mentioned, there are some good aspects to having a Discover card. You can access your account online, change your address and phone number (really easily), make payments (every seven days), ask for an email you when your statement is ready online and when you exceed a certain amount that you specify on you credit line. You can also make balance transfers online, it takes a very short time and it really is hassle free.
So, If you don’t mind about interest rates (Discover has very high ones) and you use your Discover card for buying everything, then you wont be too disappointed with what you get by the end of the year when your cash back bonus award is due.
