I applied for a Fleet Platinum Mastercard because of the low 8.9% rate fixed. Instead of getting that, I received a Edvance Card through Fleet. I never heard of it but figured that I would get the same rate. Instead, I would a 17.99% rate. That is ridiculous. Customer service informed me that it was worth it because you get free savings bonds. Big deal. A 75 year old doesn't need a savings bond. I was told if I spend 2,500 I would get a $50 savings bond. Why keep your Discover card because this is 2% cash back. Wrong! I think Fleet thinks I am stupid. The savings bond only costs $25 and when it matures it will be $50. That is really only 1%. Now Discover Card at least gives you cash back that you can use for a savings bond and the interest is about 14.99%. Discover is much better than Fleet. I think this whole 8.9% rate was a switch and bate tactic. I rally don't know anyone who received that rate. Instead they send a card with double the interest. I have not had a good experience with Fleet!
