Good card but poor service

I got the Hilton Amex Card after my free year with the Delta Skymiles Amex card ran out. I should mention that in a year with that card we compiled enough miles for 2 free tickets to Jamaica. The Hilton card rewarded us with points for accepting and no annual fee at least the first year. I would say that just a day or two ago I had an issue for customer service that seemed simple to me but it took them a while to resolve. I sent in my payment with two checks in the envelope. One from me and one from my wife. They only cashed one so when I called they said the machine probably destroyed the check. I said fine just send me a letter stating that fact. They would not send me a letter but instead just wanted me to send another check. I asked, what if someone finds this check and then cashes it on my wife's account. They then suggested I put a stop payment on the check. Most of us know that there is a charge for this. I refused to pay for them destroying or losing my check. Long story short I pushed and pushed for a supervisor who agreed to pay the cost of the stop payment. The card is fine if you want to get the points. I can still recommend it but not highly since I had to spend 30 minutes on the phone because they messed up.
