Pros: easy to accumulate miles fast
Cons: annual fee. amex is not accepted everywhere.
The Bottom Line: if you use Delta then definitely get the card.

| cybermaven's Full Review: American Express - Delta Airlines SkyMiles |
I have had the platinum amex delta skymiles credit card for several years now. You get 1 mile for every dollar purchased and 2 miles for every dollar purchased at supermarkets, drugstores, gas stations, home improvement and hardware stores, the U.S. Postal Service, on Delta or Song® purchases and your wireless phone bill payments. Also they have any many different promotions the last 2 years with double miles on everything, 50% extra when spending over a certain amount, etc. So the last 2 years they have given a user the ability to rack up a lot of miles.
The platinum does have a 135 annual fee but if you spend more than 25k in a year you get 10k miles bonus along with a free companion domestic ticket which kind of makes up for the annual payment. (as long as you use the ticket of course).
So to maximize your mileage earnings
1. try to use the card on every purchase you can no matter how small it is.
2. add additional members to your card so their spending is applied to your skymiles account. Make sure you sign up people you trust of course.
So in terms of accumulating miles I have to admit this credit card is great. The only problem is redeeming the miles but that is a different story altogether.
In general when determining what kind of reward credit card you want it still seems to me getting a card that focuses on one airline gives you the best return versus other credit cards like Capital one or even cashback credit cards as the cash amount is usually smaller than the cashvalue of the mileage earned. Of course you need to work a bit harder in redeeming the miles though.
