I did a balance transfer with Bank of America and now I wish I hadn't. They encouraged me to give their online bill payment a try and now I know why.
My payment was due on Sunday July 7th and I made my payment on Friday at 4 pm, however, a week after my payment was made I recieved a letter from them saying my paymnet was late. Worse yet is that my balance transfer rate went from around 0% all the way up to 18% and the customer service rep would not correct it. They said it was because my payment was made past the cut off time on Friday and that Saturday and Sunday are not business days.
This does not affect my credit however it did increase my payment substantially and now I will just have to transfer the balance to another card and close this one out.
As far as the free trip is concerned. You have to spend almost $100,000 to even have a chance at that perk. If you had a Discover card they would simply give you cash back up to 5% which at $5,000 would more than cover a trip to Alaska or Hawaii.
