Have had a different experience... (Reply to this comment)
by kalamazoograd
They are *really* nice when everything goes as planned, but when I had a disputed charge they were not very helpful. This was a couple of years ago and you never know if it was the that specific person.
GREAT REVIEW THOUGH and I am working my way through your list to soak up your valuable advise.

Excellent information (Reply to this comment)
by linda1527
I have 2 credit cards, one with Capital One and the other is Providian. Capital One started me at $300 and went up to $400 only after nearly 2 years. Providian, on the other hand started me with $1200 and upped my limit to $2200. I have had Providian for 10 months. I always make my payments on time, sometimes doubling or tripling the payment. A couple of times I was maybe 2 days late with Capital One or it seemed to coincide with the interest knocking it up over the limit by maybe even $4 and then having to pay a $25 late fee.
I have talked to them on the phone and found them to be very rude and not the least bit helpful in lowering the interest rate. It's like I just can't win with those people. You would think after 2 years I could get some kind of a better deal wouldn't you?
Another excellent review!

I recently incurred a $29 late fee for a balance on (Reply to this comment)
by MARIEROY
a card that had only $1 balance and was instructed on my statement not to bother sending in a payment for that month. Promptly called Chase and they realizing what had happened, promptly removed the late charge. I will make sure to look for it on next month's statement, or lack of it. But it does pay to really look over each month's statement, because at times there will be surprises.
Another great review. THanks.

they give better customer service to their secured customers than to their standard customers. Capitol One is one of the few credit cards I cancelled without being requested to by another credit issuer, in part because I could never get through to customer service.

Another outstanding review, Kat, and... (Reply to this comment)

...this company's growth is something to be either ashamed of as a society or very aware of as an investor. They also have a HUGE subprime auto group (Summit) and last I heard were trying to get into the wireless phone business!
