Pros: The ability to buy things that you can't possibly afford. That's why you got the stupid card to begin with.
Cons: You actually have to pay them back someday and trying to do so online is like pulling teeth.

| daamoth's Full Review: Student Visa/Mastercard (The Associates) |
Hey Associates! What gives? No online bill payment? Come on, get with it. Actually, back in January, I got an e-mail from the Associates saying that they were "considering" online bill payment. Considering! What's that all about? Just do it already.
Anyway, they DO have online bill payment but it's done through a different site and it's the most tedious, ridiculous, and frustrating system ever.
First of all, there is NO DIRECT LINK TO THE BILL PAYMENT SITE FROM THE ASSOCIATES SITE.
Second of all, once in the bill payment site, the login for the bill payment is AT LEAST three pages deep.
Third, half of the time, I get the good old "incorrect password" although I am entering the correct one.
Finally, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, not once, but TWICE did I pay my bill well in advance but because of this moronic service, my payment posted to my account ONE DAY LATE resulting in a $29 late fee! It wasn't even my fault at all! $58 worth of late fees because THEIR system didn't work. I called to complain and they told me that they can only remove one late fee within a six month period. Boooo!
However, I wrote a fiery e-mail to them and they took the other late fee off but they certainly weren't polite about it.
As far as the actual card goes, it has the usual features of a student card...sky high interest rate, minimal (pointless) rewards, and stupid phrases on my statement like "Make sure to use your card for all of your purchases." Great advice. Make me feel like an even bigger idiot, please.
My gripe isn't necessarily with the card itself, but it's their payment system that sucks. If you can do without any sort of credit card, then do it, they're bad news, especially this one. Don't be a sucka.
The people in this company know that they're dealing with students and are generally pretty rude and condescending. On top of that, they're incompetent. One time, the moron that I was talking to said that he didn't know the answer to my question and that he would have his supervisor call me back ASAP. Did I get a call? Of course not. They just don't care because we're just kids. They want us to miss our payments and get in to debt so they can suck us dry. Don't fall for it, kick 'em in the nuts for me.
