Pros: They give credit to those with problems.
Cons: High interest, poor customer service, strange policies!
The Bottom Line: I wouldn't use their services unless I had to. You'll pay a dear price. Check others first!

| RCarte2000's Full Review: Action Card (Bankfirst) |
I don't ever bite the hand that feeds me, let me say that first of all. I am thankful that anyone has given me credit after all I have been through... divorce.... medical bill write offs.... charge offs a few years ago... it's been bad!
I saw an ad for Bankfirst Actioncard and saw that they actually help you rebuild your credit. Almost everyone is approved! Wow! This was exactly what I needed! How could I resist?
I called and applied immediately. I knew that with holidays coming and so much going on, I needed this card! I needed their help! I reached out for them!
They reached back.. believe you me... they reached back. They reached deeeeeep into my pockets too! Let me tell the bad and then I'll tell the good...
The interest rate is unreal! 28% is what mine is currently at. It's a high price to pay for a little credit. The credit lines are low. Mine is $200. I have had this card for 3 years now and it has always been $200!
If you are at all delinquent, there's a large fee on you instantly. I believe they are now slapping you with $25 late fees. Plus, they have your home phone number (and any other number you give them when you apply) on speed dial because they call and harrass you CONSTANTLY! Even if you've mailed them a payment, they call until the payment is received!
The moment your payment becomes late, I mean that very minute, your credit is suspended! Don't try to charge anything, you can't do it. You can't use that card to verify age or anything either! It's all history until you are caught up. Even if you are only behind on $5 or $10! No leniancy at all!
Customer Service isn't helpful at all. The only thing they want to hear is when they are getting their money. They'll tell you they are sorry you lost your job, or got behind because of a death in the family, then out of the next breath, it's "So, when can we expect our payment?" Grrr! Nothing urks me more than rudeness and NO compassion!
Okay, I've gotten that mess out of the way, now let's move on to the good... they do extend credit to those not as pure of record. You have flaws, they know it, they'll extend you a slight bit of credit and a little plastic card to go with it.
They do offer online bill payment and account information. This has it's high and low points. If your payment won't reach them in time, you can go online and pay the bill. It saves you all of those fees! It's bad if you can't trust internet security and after all I've been through, I am very hesitant to do so.
Customer Service is available 24 hours a day. This is helpful to those who do work long hours and don't want to spend work time arguing with a credit card company.
You are issued a PIN (personal identification number) to use to make debit transactions or to withdrawal cash on your account, which is pretty handy in emergency situations. The card is accepted virtually anywhere!
They are pretty quick and accurate on their bills. The bills get to you in plenty of time to get them paid and they detail each and every transaction to the letter.
Overall, my 3 years with this company haven't been a total night mare. They have helped me to attend a NASCAR race and buy some gifts here and there. I've used my credit line to obtain cash when needed and I've even bought groceries. I do recommend paying your credit line as quick as possible, or you'll eat the interest for sure!
If you have poor credit and need a card, I'd probably recommend checking others first. If you can't get one anywhere else, try this one. It has it's benefits, and it's low points too. Weigh your options carefully.
