| CheyenneNY's Full Review: Capital One |
For a long time, I told myself I NEVER wanted to own a credit card. After I moved cross-country and had a new job, I knew that wasn't the most logical thing for me to do.
I applied for a few credit cards, getting refused because I had no previous credit history, or I was accepted for Secured credit cards, and ones that needed an application fee, a yearly fee, a monthly membership fee, etc. I got an application in the mail from Capital One, filled it out, selected which design I wanted on my card (there were about 8 choices) and sent it in. My credit card was delivered in about 2 weeks.
My limit is fairly low ($250) but I expected that. I called to activate my card and had to speak with a Customer Service person regarding a problem I had with their automated system. My card was activated and ready to go, and the CS rep told me to call back after 3 monthly payments and they'd go ahead and raise my limit assuming my payments were on time and I hadn't gone over my limit. When I called back after my 3rd payment, I was told I needed to wait 6 months, and they were unsure why I had been told it was only 3.
The introductory offer I was given included NO interest until August of this year. My interest rate after this period will be a little high, but if I keep up with payments, pay more than the minimum amount, etc. they will lower it.
Their online system is wonderful. You can check your statement, and make your payments online. This is a real convienient way to keep track of your balance as new purchases are added within 24 hours most of the time.
So far, I am happy with my experiences with Capital One. Customer Service has been extremely helpful, aside from that one incident. I'm glad they are willing to give credit to those of us with little or no credit experience.
I'll continue to update this epinion as time (and my experience with Capital One) goes on.
