I received something in the mail the other day in regards to (m) (Reply to this comment)

a class-action suit against First USA for their actions in the way they handled late fees. Their may be something on the internet about it. I also wrote an epinion about First USA, although my problem is different from yours, I will never use this company again.

Why did you First USA 2 stars? (Reply to this comment)
by lwfellows
The review I gave is almost a carbon copy of yours. I'd be willing to bet you got your payment in in PLENTY of time, and it was First USA that POSTED the payment late. That's not your fault. Also, imagine if you had ONLY brought their card along on your trip to avoid losing more than one card in case of theft? Your trip would have been ruined for sure. I reserve 1 star ratings for companies I feel should be out of business. First USA only got 1 star from me.

I have occasionally been successful in getting late fees removed (during moves for example...)

If you present a valid excuse, and you're a good customer, they will usually try to keep your business.

As for the other....I have a First USA card I haven't used for about six months! Now I'm afraid to use it....

First USA is Notorious... (Reply to this comment)
by Zski
First USA is notorious for the late payment game. In the past, I know that they had been known to slowly process payments (i.e., payments mailed in 10 days before the due date were still posted as late). I don't know if they do this any more but I would steer clear of them (and Bank One, their parent company).

Thanks for the warning... (Reply to this comment)

First USA is the only credit card I use. Sorry to hear that they are inflexible about late payments. Maybe it's time to look around for something better...

Thanks for the helpful review! :)

Similar situation (Reply to this comment)
by stacyb
I can't remember if it was with our FirstUSA card or another, but we were charged a late fee of $29 also. I was furious because I had sent the payment in way ahead of time to make sure it got there and like you it was posted a day after the due date. I called and told them I was not paying because I had sent it in advance.
