Pros: I have not had any good experiences with them
Cons: They will NEVER cancel an account very poor customer service
The Bottom Line: Avoid this credit card. You are not allowed to close your account If they tell you that they have closed it, they really have just opened another in your name.

Okay let me explain my title. I received a Next Card about three years ago and used it twice. I paid the balance and then basically forgot about the card. At the beginning of this year, a lot of my credit cards were lost/stolen. I began calling all of the companies to let them know. Fortunately nothing had been charged to any of my cards including my next card. I did not request another card be sent to me from Next Card since I did not use the card anyway. They never sent me another card or asked me if I wanted one. Then in April I received a bill from them. It was for $54.87 for a magazine subscription. I called them to let them know their mistake as I did not have an account with them and I did not order any magazine.
The first person I talked to was tolerable, but very unknowledgable. He told me to call the number on my statement for the magazine and once they had cleared it up Next Card would remove this charge from my account. Once again I tried to explain that I had no account with Next Card and had not used this card in over two years. I lost it and therefore could not have an account. He looked it up and said they had opened a new account in my name and whenever something was charged to my old account then they transferred it to my "new" account. I asked that they close this as I did not have a card from them and I had not charged anything. What good did it do for me to report my card as stolen if they were going to let whoever had it still use it?
In the next few weeks I talked to several next card reps about this. None of them were very helpful. They did not seem to care about my problems and when I finally got irate with them they would put me on hold and either disconnect me or leave me on hold forever. I finally talked to a lady who was in charge of fraud investigations. She sent out five letters to me at different times with fraud investigation forms for me to fill out. I filled out every single one of them and sent them back to her. Five months later I receive another bill with three other charges to a new account transfered from the second account. This is very confusing to me. I called and asked to not have another account opened in my name. They claim that because there is a balance on my card that they can not close my account.
They are now adding late fees and finance charges for these things which I have not purchased. The thing that angers me the most is I called to report my card as stolen at least two months before the first charge appeared then they continue to let someone else use my card! Where is the justice in that? Then they send me threatening letters saying that they will report me to a collection agency if I do not make the minimum payment. This is all quite frustrating, but the worst is that it seems no one will listen to me at NextCard. Several people have assured me at different times that this would be taken care of, but no one has done anything to help me! I sincerely hope that others will read of my problems and be cautious when opening an account with Next Card. Also if you have any suggestions for me, your advice is welcome. I think I will eventually have to get a lawyer, hmmm I wonder if I can charge that to my NextCard account?
