| amandal's Full Review: Aria Visa Card (Providian Bank) |
I battled the problems of no credit for a very long time. All I wanted to do was establish some credit for myself, I soon learned this is very difficult! I tried everything I could think of, and finally after my two year battle I discovered Aria. My prayers had been answered, or had the nightmares just begun?!?!?
Like most people I first learned of Aria through a banner ad on the internet. I was interested and decided to check it out. I loved the fact that you could apply online, and view your account status online. However I being new to the whole credit card seen, didn't know what I was getting myself into.
After I was approved and received the card, I still had to pay a processing fee before I could use my card. Okay no big deal I thought. When you finally get the card after paying the processing fee and the annual fee (I think it was $89, not for sure however) it is only for a 3 month trial basis. I thought this was odd, but once again I was knew to the whole credit card thing and was excited to have my very own credit card!
The whole deal with the trial basis is that if you are not responsible, after three months they cancel your account and are rid of you. Keeping your processing and annual fee. Before we get to that though, let's talk about using the card. Good luck!!! I hardly ever used my Aria Visa due to the fact that I was tired of being humiliated all over town. It is one thing for your card to be denied every now and then, but every time you try to use it? Including the very first time! I spent many hours on hold with their customer service. And got answers like, their system was down, or it was the stores reader and such. Whatever!
So back to the trial period, after three months of having the card and only charging about $80 dollars on it I made it past this trial stage. Okay so where is my new card with a valid expiration date? Who knows I still haven't seen it, and its been almost a year. I continued to be billed, and once I paid back my $80, and the annual fee I canceled the card.
It was then and only then that the people with Aria were willing to please me. They would have done just about anything to keep me around paying those annual fees.
I wouldn't recommend this card to anyone, it is nothing but a pure waste of time and money.
