| jnbmom's Full Review: Aria Visa Card (Providian Bank) |
I have read numerous reviews on the Aria card from Providian and most of the time they are pretty negative, and people have given their experiences with this card and I can see why most are displeased, based on their stories. I on the other hand have not had many problems at all with my Aria card, overall I have been quite pleased.
The Aria card is part of Providian National Bank, I must admit I have had problems with Providian bank myself, but have only had good things with my actual Aria account.
Aria has an online site in which you can apply right online. They give you instant approval in a matter of minutes. I had no credit history, which at times can look similar to having bad credit, they were the first bank to give me a chance. I applied online and received instant approval, I was then telephoned and they confirmed my information and then I received my card in the mail within a few weeks.
They offered 0% financing for the first 6 months and then offered me a fixed rate of 12.99% after the initial 6 months had expired. There was no annual fee and I was given a high credit limit of 5000. They offer online access to your account 24 hours a day, it just takes a few minutes to register and then you can access your information anytime of the day.
Aria has always posted my payments very quickly and now you can arrange your payments to be debited from your checking account and then elect which day you want your bill to be paid.
Now have I had any problems?? To be honest I haven't had many, I have found their customer service to be adequate, at times though they seem to be reading from a script when you call and ask them questions, but overall they usually answer my questions but you can be on hold for a little while. Their online site has just been redone, I had found their previous site to be rather slow and sometimes I could not access it. So far the revamped site has been working properly and I have elected to pay my bill online, I had selected a few days prior to the due date, they suggest the day prior to due date but that seems to be cutting it to close for me, but they did deduct tha day I requested. The payment system is not a automatic monthly thing, you must do this on a month to month basis, which suits me fine since my payments may differ month to month.
I have had this card for well over a year, my rate has stayed the same since they day I received it. The interest rate on cash advances is extremely high at 24.99%, therefore I don't use the cash advance for my card, this seems to be very high to me. The only other thing that I have not been to pleased with is their credit line increases, I have had this card over a year and have always paid on time and have yet to be offered an increase. They also do not call you all the time asking you to try this service and that, I have other cards that hound me weekly, but so far they have called maybe 4 times in a year, I can handle that.
I know others have had problems with this card and Providian, I too had problems with Providian Financial, but I have been very satisfied with the Aria branch of the bank.
