Pros: Big national banking concern. Lots of branches. Lots of ATMs.
Cons: Too big for its own good. Impersonal service. Unusual problems crop up.
The Bottom Line: This national megabank with all of its ATM's and branches can just go jump in a lake for all I care. They treated me badly! You could be next!

| Schinjay's Full Review: Bank One |
You just never know with this organization. Bank One looks big and professional on the outside, but it is all too human on the inside.
Bank One merged with the bank of my childhood in Dallas, Texas many years ago. This was the bank I had opened my first checking and savings accounts with back in the 8th grade with the help of my folks. It taught me how to manage and handle my money. I loved this local bank.
I got exceptional service when it was just my good ol' hometown bank, but when Bank One took over funny things started to happen after a few years. When I moved from Dallas to San Antonio in 1990 it just seemed like the whole system fell apart.
After transferring my accounts to the local San Antonio branch I was mistreated very badly in several instances.
First, the bank failed to catch several checks that I had stopped payment on. This cost me over $600 at one time.
Then Bank One decided, very mistakenly, to put a freeze on all of my accounts due to an IRS lien on someone with a similar name way over on the east coast. Never mind the fact that the other guy had a completely different Social Security number from mine.
This put a terrible cramp on our family 2 week summer vacation since I couldn't access any of my money while we traveled. Thank God we have two working people in our family. We would have had to stay home otherwise.
After communicating with the IRS, it turned out that Bank One really bungled this one up. The IRS officials insisted that when they work with banks on liens they only target specific persons with specific Social Security Numbers. Well in this case, Bank One just took it on themselves to do some blanket account freezes to cover all the bases.
Thanks a lot Bank One. It took me weeks to clear up many, many bounced checks resulting from this little incident. After all of these irritating situations I closed my accounts and moved on to a much more reliable local bank.
Now, you may never have any of these irrational situations happen to you, but I did, and I will never use a Bank One service ever again.
That's my Epinion. Mahalo for stopping by.
