Pros: Good, as long as I stick to the branch at work, ATMs are abundant.
Cons: Go anywhere else, and you may have problems.
The Bottom Line: If you have Firstar Workplace banking, USE IT. For those who don't...Firstar's really just another bank.

I switched to Firstar because they have a branch in my office building. Now, I admit, I work for a large, well known company, and the highers up like to be treated like kings. So if you're going to place a bank branch in the building (behind security, so only employees can make use of it) you've got to have some first rate customer service.
And they do. I love the Firstar employees. They know my name (without looking at my badge! and for a company of over 1000 that's HIGHLY impressive) and always give me individualized and friendly service.
They waive fees without even being asked. I asked for a money order, and paid for it by withdrawing from my savings account. The teller only withdrew the amount needed for the money order, and I was never charged a fee-at the time or later. So when I went to another branch, imagine my surprise when they wanted to charge me! They ended up waiving the fee "just this once" but don't worry, I'll do all my banking at the office, thanks.
The ATM fees are lower than others. At one bank they are $2 per use of a non-Firstar ATM and another they are $1.50. Firstars fee is only $1. Of course, in a perfect world, there would be no fee for withdrawing your own money. But fortunately there are Firstar ATM's all over the place, so you shouldn't have to drive too far out of your way to find one. And should you use your debit card to get money back at a grocery store? A mere 25 cents. Much better than a $2 fee. Go buy a candy bar, and ask for $20 back, instead of using another banks ATM. :-)
And I love their website. I _LIVE_ on their website. I can check my balance (and sadly, I balance my checkbook from the site, I really must start writing things down AS I buy them) and transfer between my savings account and my checking account. The web site is easy to use, secure, and very helpful. Another big plus for Firstar.
My checking and savings accounts are free. My checking account is free through a work promotion, as long as I direct deposit my paycheck into the checking account, it is free. And the savings account is their Preferred Savers Club savings account, which is free as long as you direct deposit an amount (any amount, I chose $20) into it from your checking account once every two weeks.
I suppose this can really only apply to you if you work at my office. But there ARE good, competent, friendly Firstar employees out there. They just all work for a company in downtown Cincinnati.
