Our Bank has changed owners three or four times in the last four years. It is hard to keep up. I surely do miss our old bank. Firstar is the name that hangs on our bank at the present time. I never had any problems with our old bank and they had grown up with our family. Gone forever seems to be the personal touch. It has been replaced by Firstar. I have had a number of negative experiences:
*I specifically called and asked about the correct procedure for depositing an international check. I was told to request a bank check in US dollars. Easy enough and no trouble depositing at first. A week later I was charged double the amount of the check for a processing fee and the check was refused. This matter was finally corrected and my account was credited but doubt had set in.
*My son wanted to open a checking account and was told I had to come in to co-sign since he was not yet 18. He came home to get me and then I was told that since his birthday was in another 2 months my co-signature was not required. Later on he noticed that the numbers on his deposits was not the same as on his account. His pay checks were being deposited into a separate savings account we had opened when he was a baby. An account he knew nothing about up to that point.
*Bank totals have to be asked for when ever I make a deposit.
I don't have experience with another bank although I'm not sure I can give you a reason for my staying at this branch other than the good location and habit. Goodness is that a reason to stay?
