I think I have had my fill of bank mergers! We currently bank at Firstar, and have been customers for over 3 years. Through these three years we have had a money market account, two checking accounts, two auto loans and currently one home equity loan. You would think having that type of relationship with a financial institution would mean service. It does not!
Today I reached my breaking point over a $5.00 charge for a cashier's check. 5 months ago this cashier's check would have been offered to us at no charge as a way of saying thank-you for our continued relationship. No longer. Since the last merger our "relationship checking" features no longer exist. When I asked about this, the Firstar Representative told me she had never heard of relationship checking. Gee as it turns out she has worked there for a grand total of FOUR days! She shuffles me off to someone else who tells me, Ma'am you sound frustrated, I will have our branch manager call you tomorrow." CLICK.
Speaking of our home equity loan, they have once again applied my payment to the so called "principal only" which means, that although I made last months payment on time. They have tacked on a $9.00 late fee. And of course the person on the line "doesn't work in that department" and can't help me out, and once again I hear, call back tomorrow. Do these people think I have nothing better to do than wait until tomorrow, those tomorrows don't seem to bring answers any more!
My husband and I are in the planning stages of opening our own business in the next 12 months. Guess who I won't be going to for a business loan?
