Pros: Great customer service from the military banking unit. 30 years of service.
Cons: Apathy on the part of BOA. Your days as a military customer are numbered.
The Bottom Line: I'd wholehearted recommend the old Ft Sam or its earlier descendents. BUT - for a new military enrollee - go somewhere where they actually care about your service.

| msj999's Full Review: Military Bank - Bank of America |
I first became a Ft Sam Bank customer as an ROTC candidate back in 1980 or so. I've lived through the mergers and acquisitions as NCNB National Bank, Nations Bank and finally Bank of America. Sadly, I don't think I'm much longer for the system. BOA has basically terminated its military banking program and is in the process of mainstreaming as many of the old subscribers from the custom Liberty Gold programs to a program which basically has no benefits, increased fees and the same poor BOA customer service. I was told by one of the military bank customer reps that BOA will be shutting their unit down once enough of us go away. Imagine trying to deal with world wide deployments with a rep that has no idea of military needs.
Over the last few years I've had increasingly unsettling interactions with main BOA - for example a demand to come in and present my passport. Today, I'm even having problems depositing checks in my local BOA ATMs - my card is accepted for withdrawals, but the "deposit" button is grayed out. I'm actively looking at other options (USAA and Wells Fargo Military both appear somewhat possible) but it's sad that BOA just doesn't get it.
