| pkmom's Full Review: SunTrust Bank |
My husband's job relocated us in June. Our former bank did not have a bank branch that was convenient to our new home. Friends gave us such a commercial for Sun Trust that we decided to go talk with them.
The Knoxville Center Wal-Mart branch seemed to fit our schedule the best. They are open from 9:00 am - 7:00 pm Monday through Friday. On Saturday they are open from 10:00am - 4:00 pm. There is no drive through at this location. The nearest drive through location is open from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. with no hours on Saturday.
I have to tell you the Knoxville Center SunTrust seems to be a good choice. We've been pretty impressed by the staff. They went out of their way to be accommodating and make sure our questions were answered. The branch manager was terrific. She answered all of our questions and took time with us.
When I told her that I wanted to check another bank it did not seem to faze her. She was just as friendly when we left as she was when we came in. That impressed me so much we went back a few days later to open the account.
SunTrust offers a free personal checking account that will fit our needs. They also offer other services like online bill pay. Thankfully, their user friendly website makes it a snap to use.
Registering was simple. After setting up the checking account the bank sent us an email. There was a time limited response window for security purposes. We responded within the time frame, clicked a few links and were ready to go within minutes.
I like their user friendly website much better than the one we used with our old credit union account. The print is larger than with the credit union system. The dark letters on the light background makes the SunTrust online system much easier to read overall.
You can also see if you have pending transactions. This works for debits and credits. That wasn't an option we had before. I have found that I really like it.
The customer service has been impressive. Bank tellers at this location have always been friendly and knowledgeable.
So far, it's been almost two months that the account has been open. We've not had to call an 800 number for anything. Everything has gone as it should. Our debit cards and access information arrived on schedule. The checks were printed correctly and arrived in a timely manner. There have not been any glitches.
I was able to go online and set up our bill payments without problems. The credit union is the only system I can compare it with. That one was slow and sluggish where this one is quick, responsive and user friendly.
SunTrust has a reward system for your debit and credit cards. Every dollar you spend earns you points that you can redeem for merchandise, gift certificates - just about anything. We try not to use credit cards so it was nice to see we could register our debit card for the program too. It looked like the minimum point redemption was 6000. I'm not sure we'll ever get there but no doubt someone will.
They also support charity organizations. Through the program called Cause Checking SunTrust will donate $100 to the charity of your choice.
This does not cost you anything. You must open the account, accept and use a debit card and fill out an online form. It costs you nothing but you do have to remember to go online to fill out the form.
If you don't want to donate that's ok too. Follow the protocol outlined above and SunTrust will give you a $50.00 Visa debit card. Again, at no cost to you.
All in all, moving to SunTrust was a night versus day difference. Relocating forced me to change financial institutions and so far, I'm very glad we did.
