For the past four years, I have held several accounts at TCF Bank-Minnesota: two personal checking accounts, one small-business checking account and one savings account. I switched banks primarily because I was moving from an rural suburb of the Twin Cities to Bloomington. I am impressed with a few qualities of this institution--these are just the things that I look for in a major metropolitan bank.
First, all of my checking accounts are free. This is pretty standard these days, but there are many incentives available by TCF (not just toasters) to sign up for accounts. These include cash rewards/credits, free checks, airline tickets and lots of quality household tools and appliances. There are plenty of accounts tailored to individuals, families, small and large businesses. In addition, inside most major branches are a TCF Mortgage Center. This makes TCF a convenient place to check current interest rates and loan information if you want to purchase a house. Essentially, TCF is a one-stop solution for my banking needs.
Especially impressive are the multitude of TCF branches in local Cub Foodstores. I can virtually drive anywhere in the metro and outstate area, find a Cub, and do my banking. These branches also have weekend hours, including Saturday evening and Sundays! If you need to get some quick cash on Sunday morning and don't want to visit a teller, you can go into Cub Foods (it opens at 11am on Sundays) and make the transaction. I have used this feature many times, and they even stay open to 6pm on Sundays as well. Other banks in the Twin Cities do not keep these hours. Cub caters to the people who need to perform financial transactions on these non-business days.
I expect professional service in a bank. The tellers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Customers don't have to wait very long to get service, especially in the Cub stores. If you want a full service, convenient bank, check out TCF-Minnesota. It may be the smartest financial move you can make!
