I have been using USAA Federal Savings Bank for my checking account for years now and have been very happy. I got so fed up with my local banks charging me for a checking account that I switched to USAA Federal. Imaging that...charging me to use my own money...bah..I say go with USAA!
Setting up the account was simple and quick. Customer service has always been good. Although I use their phone touchline account services quite often without a hassle. They also now offer web-based account access.
You are allowed up to 5 ATM transactions per month for free. USAA actually reimburses you for any extra charges that the ATM might charge you! To me this was amazing!
Deposits must be made via mail. USAA provides postage-free envelopes to get your deposits to them.
This bank is not for you if you need/want the extras of a walk-in branch.
