Pros: There is not one positive thing you can say about this outfit.
Cons: Most of the customer service and management, or lack thereof.
The Bottom Line: Everyone makes mistakes, most businesses cheerfully correct them when brought to their attention. Not with these clowns.
They lie and bully as long as they can. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid.

Avoid US Bank at all cost! The incompetence and arrogance of its employees and management is beyond my descriptive abilities. It is believed Arab terrorists avoid US Bank properties because of fear of being associated with this organization. (and I use the term "organization" very loosely.)
My wife and I were married in 1997, she had a loan on her vehicle through a regional bank, life was good. Then the cloud that was US Bank swallowed up the bank that owned the loan. No problem, we kept making the payments, everything looked good. Then the problems began. First, early in 1999 we came into some extra money and thought, "Let's pay off the US Bank loan." So we called to get the payoff amount, then sent a check with the loan account number written on it, along with all the remaining payment coupons, 2 weeks before the next payment was due. (I know we should have included pictures and/or video tape showing our wishes.)About 1 month later, we started getting past due letters and harassing phone calls about being past due. I informed them of their error and the fact that we had in our possession the check we had sent them which they had indeed cashed. Silly me, these morons could not be bothered with such facts. We repeatedly called several different phone numbers in Fargo, Sioux Falls, and Minneapolis, only to be told it was someone else's problem. We put our cancelled check in the fax machine and sent it over and over and over repeatedly several different days. We followed up with emails and phone calls (each time being on hold for a minimum of 13 minutes.) ((Yes we timed and documented this.)) After arguing with these lying rubberheads for several weeks I sent a complaint to the attorney general's office explaining my situation along with the supporting documentation, ie cancelled check. They in turn inquired as to the problem with US Bank. Less than 2 weeks later we had and apology letter from some vice president or janitor or something with some bogus excuse as to how this mistake happened and they finally zeroed our account and stopped harassing us. I informed him that I wanted a free credit report to ensure that their incompetence had not tarnished our excellent credit rating. I was "assured" this was not necessary, as I had his word on that. I can not describe the value of a US bank representative's word on a family website such as this. We were fat dumb and happy, our problem was solved. Forward to June 2002, while purchasing a house, the finance company asked us about a delinquent loan with US bank. Imagine my surprise, why certainly they must be joking. I had been assured this would not happen by a member of US bank management, how could this be? My first call was to US bank customer "service". Was I on crack???? No, but calling them made about as much sense. Same story different date. I finally had to file disputes with each of the credit reporting agencies, and send them my proof. They in turn followed up with US bank. Weeks later it was resolved. Again with an apology letter "assuring me" that everything has been corrected. Let's just say I won't be throwing away any documents relating to this fiasco. Something is yet to bite us again. It seems US Bank corporate policy is 1 of 2 things, either total and complete incompetence; or it is cheat, lie, and harass the customer until they give up. Neither is one that I would choose to do business with. My advice to all is do not do any business with this bank under any circumstances. If you find yourself forced into doing business with them as we were by mergers and such, if possible refinance with a reputable bank, and pay in person and get a receipt, and also smile and waive to the camera. You will need all the proof you can when dealing with these clowns.
P.S. Enron's new slogan, was "Yeah we're corrupt, but at least we aren't US bank."
