Pros: Worldperks Check Card, friendly service, free checking & savings
Cons: Fewer locations than some banks
The Bottom Line: I like US Bank a lot, especially the Worldperks card. I think it has a lot to offer if you set the account up right to avoid fees!

I am still a baby member of US Bank. I just switched over from TCF about 1-2 months ago now, but I couldn't take TCF. US Bank, thus far, has been a relief for me! I chose USB because they offer the Worldperks Check Card. Being an avid user of my check card in the past, I figured I should at least be getting somethign for it! I got a 3000 mile sign on bonus and 1 mile for every $2 spent on the card. That is a sweet deal. I can overlook a lot of things for that!! There is an annual fee of $20 for it, but its worth it if you use your check card often.
Fees:
I have seen a lot of comments about high fees from US Bank, but there are really easy ways to avoid it. I came from TCF which has totally free checking so I am not willing to pay fees anymore. If you set up direct deposit, there are no fees (aside from the Worldperks annual fee). I know there are other ways for it to be free, like only using ATM's-I try to do this anyway, its much quicker.
ATM's & Locations:
I have found that US Bank does not have as many locations or available ATM's as TCF had, but they do match up fairly well. In most areas if you see a TCF (the leader in locations in the Twin Cities) you will see a US Bank nearby. The downside is the amount of ATM's available. They also do not seem to have many locations in grocery stores, I have grown accustomed to using these and I do miss that feature.
Online Account Management:
I love their online set up both the website and their online banking. I think its really easy to navigate and it has everything I could ever want to know! Their online banking is definitly nice. You can link up to Quicken and other similar software, but I think there is a fee for it (surprise surprise).
Customer Service:
What a relief, finally nice people at a bank. Every person I have come into contact with has been very friendly to me so far. This is the total opposite of my old bank. I hope it stays like this cause its such a relief.
Overdraft Protection:
This option is my favorite. I am sure if you don't know what you are doing, it could hurt you, but I only see it as a bonus. They have attached a line of credit to my account to protect me incase I accidentally overwrite my account. Instead of slapping you with a $28 overdraft fee (hello!) like TCF, they pull out a certain amount and put it in your account to avoid the fees...you are then obligated to pay it back or owe interest. If one isn't careful, they could get into alot of trouble.
I think this bank is great and I have yet to find any serious flaws but I know they are out there. I think the only way to avoid evil banks is to use Credit Unions, but they have their downsides as well. The Worldperks card makes everything worthwhile to me!
