I have been banking with Wells Fargo for many years and I was always happy with their service. I have a money market savings account, checking account, and credit card account. The ease of transferring money at the ATM or on-line was a big positive for me. I would do all my charging on my Wells Visa and just transfer funds to pay it off, never having to write a check for a bill.
The service has always been good and friendly on those occasions when I have to do banking at the bank. Customer service on the phone has also been adequate and the waits not too long on the phone. I have even e-mailed them questions with rather quick replies.
However the negatives. Most of their checking plans cost money or a high balance to waive the fee. Or you can do what I do, which is have your employer direct deposit your check into your checking account, then checking is free with Wells Fargo.
But the reason for my new frustration with this bank, is that they decided after all these years to charge me 15 bucks a month to use the money market account, which is basically a savings account! There goes all my interest I earn! I think this is absurd as they are using my money to make themselves more money. A service fee for what? When I called about this, they offered to transfer my money to a lower percentage account (about 1 1/2%) without a fee. I might as well stick my money under my mattress. As of this writing, I plan to get on the phone and cancel that account. I may still keep checking and Visa, but unless they permanently waive this fee, which they might, I am gone!
