The Bottom Line: BillPoint has proved to be unreliable, disorganized, slower than more traditional methods of payment, badly managed and seriously undermines relations between people buying and selling on the internet.

Having been introduced to BillPoint via Ebay, I was initially impressed with it's apparently secure and immediate system of payment. On further introduction however, I now feel compelled to advise prospective users against it.
I have only used BillPoint as a buyer and, having no feedback from a seller's perspective, can say nothing about their dealings in that respect. As a buyer my experiences have been mixed and ranging to both extremes of positive and negative. My first BillPoint transaction was speedy, simple and efficient. All subsequent dealings have been frustrating and troublesome both on my part and on the part of the individual sellers; with invoices not being delivered, web-sites continually being inaccessible, problems with additional payments to the same seller, simple payments being impossible to carry out and have also had indissolvable problems with international orders. BillPoint are also difficult to get hold of, not to mention unhelpful, if you have problems or complaints.
My most current - and still incomplete - transaction is the one that has prompted this response to BillPoint where, having finally received an invoice on the THIRD sending, the payment system does not allow me to complete the transaction. The form, which would be extremely straightforward if it worked, does not contain the necessary fields to enter the information required by BillPoint to complete payment. An item which should have been shipped to me eight days ago is still waiting in the States for payment.
As a buyer, this is not only inconvenient, as the item was bought on the understanding I would receive it QUICKLY, but extremely frustrating; particularly as Billpoint was a major feature in my entering this particular auction in the first place, as the item was needed at speed. It is also a concern for the seller, who is sending information on faith that is not reaching the buyer; resulting in delayed and unintentional non-payments and considerable interruption and loss of business.
In conclusion, BillPoint has proved to be unreliable and considerably more time and effort than more traditional methods of payment. It is disorganized, inefficient, badly managed and seriously undermines relations between people buying and selling on the internet.
