Paypal is not such a Pal

Pros: Easy to use, All In One Service makes Live easy if you use it RIGHT
Cons: Fees for service can be expensive, Paypal will lock cards if you change email address
The Bottom Line: Paypal is a decent product for sending and receiving funds customer service is very poor and as an EBAY Seller I would prefer to use another service.

I have been using this service for a little over a year now; mainly to pay for auctions and I thought it was pretty cool. Recently I became a seller on EBAY and realized that I would have to use a pay account a little more often. Since so many people on EBAY only accept PayPal I figured this would be my automatic choice but I have received a VERY rude surprise!
I made the very common error of creating two accounts - one under each of 2 different email addresses. All I wanted to do was put all the bank accounts and credit cards under ONE account. Sounds simple enough right? NOT!!
My first step was to remove the credit card from the unwanted account. I then went to where I wanted the card to be and tried to add it. That didn't work. I then closed the extra account completely and tried again. Still no luck. I now emailed help. They told me that I needed to reconfirm my account and get my member number. I had done this on the deleted account but thought oh well..... I'll do this again. After waiting over 8 days, I finally have my old bank account listed as a funding account. However I still cannot get the visa on as a funding source. I emailed help AGAIN since there phone line is slammed!
2 days later I got THIS response!!
I apologize that you cannot use this credit card
in the PayPal system. Since we are a non face-face
transaction provider, our process for accepting cards
is more stringent and complicated. This helps prevent
the use of stolen and unauthorized cards for making
Payments. The denial of this credit card is
not reflective of your credit worthiness. In instances
where a good card fails these checks, we suggest you
try another card in the system. Thank you for your
understanding.
ALl this AFTER I have been completely ID verified!!! Furthermore, since when is ANY credit card system a face-face transaction provider? Why didn't pay pal tell me when I closed the account that I would not be able to use the card in another account?
If I sound angry - you bet I am! I feel like I've been taken for a ride. I'm certainly glad that I have not invested thousands of dollars with PayPal. It could have been a such a good service; coordinating billing, payments and shipping all in one place - but Paypal has been anything BUT a headache to me!
How many credit cards do the people at PayPal think I maintain? I only maintain 2 bank accounts and THAT card IS my main checking account. In fact it is a CHECK card and the check card for the account that they have let me add! It all sounds pretty screwed up to me. I'm sure glad that EBAY has bought the system and in the meantime I'm looking for a different pay system!
