I have been a member of Ameritrade for 2 years now and have been completely satisfied. Let me tell you my story.
Before leaving for Iraq I wanted to open an account so I could invest my paychecks, since now I had nothing to spend them on, this seemed like a great way to save for my future. I got in on there 30 free trades deal and opened my account. I was told I needed to fund the account with a minimum of $2000 to start trading. I put $100 and figured I'd just see if it would let me execute a trade, well it did. So each check I invest more until I was $2000+. I then noticed I never got my free trades. I used their contact form on their web site, which is VERY easy to get to. Unlike some sites that make you click and click and answer questions just to get to a damn message box to send your question.
So I sent off my query about the free trades. They got back to me in about 36 hours and said they would refund all the commissions I was charged. The next day I checked my account my cash balance had increased quiet a bit. They actually came through. I was very happy.
I have called them once on the phone and was on hold maybe 2 minutes. I usually do all my contacts with them via e-mail as they respond so quickly. And it gives me a record of the question and answer. Incase I asked for something and never received it I can then go back and show them indeed I was promised something.
Their site is setup very well. It is easy to navigate and find exactly what you are looking for. Executing trades is easier then boiling a pot of water. And takes a lot less time.
Trading prices are competitive at 10.99, not the cheapest but what you get with Ameritrade it is unbeatable. That goes for margins, options, mutual funds, everything. Lots of other sites charge different prices for different types of trading. Ameritrade makes it easy.
