I don't know a whole lot about this company and I've never traded stock online with them, however I would like to share my initial experience.
Last week I made an internet inquiry through DLJ directs website, without my approval and no warning DLJ Direct probed and obtained my personal credit report. Admittedly, I was upset after DLJ direct is a reputable company. DLJdirect is one of the premier online brokerage firms. They offer a diversified range of investment products and services. According to their advertisement, DLJdirect ensures their customers have the most reliable and complete tools and resources to manage their finances.
I read over the on-line application which made no mention of a credit check, criminal background check or any other requirements to open an on-line trading account accept sending them cash. Perhaps a overzealous customer service representative submitted a credit check. Perhaps I did not read the fine print.
I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the Securities Investors Protection Corporation however I felt compelled to tell my fellow on-line traders to be prepared. Also like other companies, DLJ Direct's has some hidden charges and fee's which seem a little high in comparison to other nationally recognized online traders.
In today's volatile marketplace you can't afford to waist your time and money on a company that chooses not to operate above board. I hope what happened to me was the exception and not the norm. My online experience with DLJ direct has left a bad taste in my mouth.
My advice is to be careful when doing business online. Thank you for reading my review.
