I initially selected this online broker because all of the hype about $7.95 trades online. Wow! What a service!!
Well, actually if you read the fine print, or even the invisible print, you'll find they're singing another tune. It's called Debit and Run. They'll take what they feel they can get away with from your account in the name of fees and commissions, with the understanding that every user is responsible for properly "framing their order". Well, when information is not disclosed or placed somewhere on their vast, unresponsive, counterintuitive website, it becomes nearly impossible to "frame orders" properly.
The best part about their service is that you can get a cheap Market order for a NYSE or NASDAQ listed stock. Anything else--watch out. OTC bulletin board orders for some stocks can cost you literally HUNDREDS of dollars in undisclosed commissions, in addition to your trading fees.
They nailed my sorry ass (sorry I ever signed up) for $164.95 trading fee for an $1800.00 order. The justification for this was not disclosed in their Fees section, but down in the bowels of the FAQ (something someone associates with troubleshooting, not due diligence in framing orders).
And, after personally being insulted and watching them walking around this issue for almost a year now, they still will not come clean (and you don't even want to know about the wait times of the online help, Yark!).
They've told me several times that I need not reply to their support/service in the future. I think I'm going to have to sue their
deceitful company to recover. This, I am still debating.
Best of luck to all who engage.
