Suretrade is one of the cheapest brokers in the Internet brokerage business with $7.95 per Market Trade (cash) and $12.95 in options.
They may have started in 1997 and by then there have not been many people around trading on the Internet as heavily as we see that today.
But: I guess they have not done anything with their hardware since then!
Even with the new, simpler page layout (since end Oct. '99) the service is running extremely slow, so slow that I have given up on trading a couple of times already.
Exactly between 9:30 and 4 EST all speed is gone and you can not even open some screens anymore!
Traded a stock and want to find out about the execution in order to go one then? Forget it in normal trading hours!
AND: my computer is connected to a high speed network web connection with my company. Still: no speed and even some page not to be opened because of speed.
Customer Service is pretty good though, I have never been waiting more than 2-3 minutes for someone to talk to.
The paperwork they provide about your trades is nice too and is always mailed to you in time.
Their online phone menu is fairly easy too.
But: where is the point to trade with someone who does not let you react in time?
If you need to trade in seconds and want to look at results for your account, balance, order status etc. FORGET ABOUT SURETRADE!!!
