I have been using SureTrade for about a year now.
Like most others, I jumped aboard due to low fees ($8.00)
At the time I signed on there was only a 1000.00 requirement
to open an account. That was a big plus.
The first design of the site was clunky and slow. It averaged 1 minute for each page load, this was due to excessive java and not very structured server side coding.
The new design of the site however, loads in no time and you can easily navigate through the site and your account.
Suretrade is now a barebones design for fast access but they lack
bells and whistles. I still have not been able to figure out how to setup email alerts for stocks that fall or rise to my set points.
It is also difficult to make connections and get past information of prospective stocks.
I use other services for that information.
Trades do get executed correctly and mostly on time (a slight lag is ok with me) I do a ton of "Limit" orders, this type of stock trade either completes or it doesn't at a set price, eliminating the brokers ability to sell or buy the stock you want for a few pennies more or less
(The Broker pockets the difference, bet ya didn't know that!)
Suretrade on a whole is a decent online trading house, you can certainly trust them, and they have a great customer service record with me, but they really fall behind in the pursuit to make you a better trader.
Faults are: No educational tools, Hard to find extras, Slight lag in trading.
Pluses: Low cost. Fast web site (now)
My opinion:
If you no what you are doing and want a no frills site that charges low fees, go with them. It is easy to make a trade and check your balances.
If you are NEW to trading try E*trade or Ameritrade, they both offer the tools new investors will need to educate themselves, albiet at a bit more cost. Both require a $2000.00 deposit to open an account.
NOTE: E*Trade offers several different incentives for you to open an account. If you choose E*trade, be sure to go to the site and give them some information BEFORE opening an account. You will soon get several offers and discount from the via email and USmail to tempt you into opening an accoun.
