Pros: I thought it would be convenient, I was wrong.
Cons: Not at all helpful with anything.
The Bottom Line: Protect your hard earned money, do not put trust in Netbank because they don't care about you.

| mtuairau's Full Review: NetBank |
My experience with Netbank has been a nightmare. I have had an online account with them for almost two and a half years having made an initial deposit of $100. To this date, I have lost nearly every penny to fees not ever having access via ATM, online withdrawal/transfer, or even calling on the telephone. In other words, I never spent a dime elsewhere than on their fees.
While their phone representatives are well-trained, well-memorized marketers and for the most part quite pleasant, they are never the ones you really need to talk to & every single time I have called the Security department it has not been readily available.
After initially opening an account with the $100, I waited for an ATM check card, my checks and the entire bank kit. I did receive almost everything within about 10 days. Then the nightmare began. I checked online to see what my statement said after about two weeks. I was shocked to find that I was not able to transfer funds from my credit union. I immediately called Netbank where one of the reps told me that I needed to talk to their security department, but they would not be available until Monday. During the weekend, I then received a letter from Netbank saying I had to re-verify who I was which, once again, floored me as I had sent everything they required.
Over that same weekend, we decided to go to the movies so we went to an ATM to try to withdraw since I knew there was still $100 in the account. The ATM card ate my check card and alerted me to contact my bank. I was livid. By Monday, I was finally able to speak to someone in their Security department and they told me that I needed to do the following:
1. Send in a notarized statement [I could print a form off the Internet at their site] stating who I was along with a state ID, etc.
2. Send in mail such as gas bill, electric bill or phone bill with my name imprinted on it to prove that I really lived where I said I did.
3. Check back with them in a week and they would clear things up if everything checked out.
I complied to all requests and asked if I could fax it in at which time they said yes. I faxed everything from my office. I waited and heard nothing so I called again, but the wait was just too long and I could no longer hold on. Before long, my daughter became seriously ill and it became my priority and I forgot for a bit about Netbank.
A few months later, I discovered the paperwork and realized we never got completion or resolution on this matter so I started again. They told me nothing had been received and I was not supposed to fax it in, but to mail it in. Meanwhile, I kept seeing that they continued to charge me fees & when I questioned them about not really being able to use the account, why the continuous charges? They said I needed to hurry and send the paperwork and this was their process, charging the fees. We had also moved and now I had to send them mail with not only the old address, but the new address as well.
This story can go on and on as it has not yet been resolved and there is barely $20 in the account of which I never spent a penny on anything but their fees. I would highly recommend NOT opening an account with Netbank. I have since gone with Bank of America, which has no branches in Utah, but has serviced our family exceptionally well. I opened an account online with them and never had episodes as I have with Netbank.
In today's technology, I just don't understand where Netbank is coming from. I do believe they are a rip-off of sorts - $100 may not be anything to them, but I am not in the habit of burning money. If I could not use the account, I do not understand why they could. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
They are poor at replying to emails, they are extremely poor with customer service, but they are very good at swallowing your money up at your expense without you having one penny of pleasure. I strongly discourage doing business with Netbank.
By the way, when I asked to close the account when there was about $50 left, I had to do that in writing as well. Thanks for nothing, Netbank. Thanks for reading, epinioners!
