I have bad experience with AIG auto.
I don't know where I should start....
Besides decent insurance rate, I can't think of anything good about AIG auto. I wish I have read other's opinions before I started the policy with them. But I learned from the mistakes and I am here to tell you why you shouldn't get a policy from them.
Getting the quote and starting the new policy wasn't so hard. Right after I paid the first month premium, I received a few other bills from them. Every bill shows the different amount! They were all bills for the first month premium which I have already paid. So I called the customer service for inquiry. Just like the other guy said, I was on hold for good 30 minutes. Finally representative came on line and told me that their system is updating so call back in one hour. Okay, so I waited for one hour and called back. I was on hold for about 20 minutes this time and finally got through. This time a guy told me that their system is doing the daily update and it usually takes all night so call back tomorrow. I was already frustrated there but what can I do? They can't look at my file.
Next day I finally talked to them and solved the problems. I disregarded the false bills after that. About a week later I receive the same thing. I don't want to even explain the same thing again so just imagine what happened. You are right. Basically the same thing.
Time passed and it was time to make another payment. When I looked closer my premium was bumped up for about $ 200! I called them immediately and asked why. Rep. told me " oh, the state rate increased. That's your premium amount. " I was speechless. Can they just do that without notifying their customers !?
Well, I can just go on about their poor quality customer service. I noticed that every representative gives me different answer to my questions. If I ask them to take action about certain things, they never do it. So I ask their supervisors and they are the same way.
They are always trying to be helpful but overall they are not educated to serve customers. They are not very certain about their product themselves.
I have a friend who works for AIG, not auto dept. He told me that people complains because their policies got canceled without notice, it takes forever to start the accident claim, claim adjuster are hardly proactive and hard to get a hold of, it takes months for them to issue a check for accident claim reimbursement...... How do they stay in business? I want to know.
Now I am glad that I switched my insurance to other company. They offer decent rate as well and very helpful customer service for 24/7.
