Well, since I have to carry insurance on my vehicle, I was shopping around for an insurance company in the state I moved to. Rhode Island. After 3 hours of frustration and discouragement, I mean come on.. I have a clean driving record, no tickets, no accidents, I am wayyy over the "it is cool to drive like a fool" age, I thought I would be looking at about $40 to $50 a month since Providence is a Metro area. Think again.
All of the quotes I was getting were for over $300 for a 6 month policy with over $100 down. I am not made of money. I was so mad and had a headache when I saw the Geico commercial on the TV. O.K. I figured, it can not hurt to try one more.
So I called. They took 5 minutes to get my information and the car information, gave me a quote for 6 months way under $300 with just around $50 a month and $68 down. And to beat all ... they will fax the policy number to the DMV where you have to go to register the vehicle. So no waiting for the mail to run it's slow course.
I was able to take the option of having it directly taken from my bank account or to Western Union it to them also. The Customer Service was friendly and knew what they were talking about, and when I was ready to go to the DMV, the agent I spoke to had given me his extension number so I did not have to wait on the phone for anything.
Since I price compared I know I got the best deal around. Insurance is a required thing here now. And if I have to have it, I may as well try to get the best for the least amount of money.
