I always thought that the advertising claims of Geico Direct Auto Insurance were somewhat padded in their favor, so I stayed away from them. Frankly, it all seemed just too good to be true. I occasionally phoned them to get a quote, but never "took the plunge", so to speak, because I just assumed that these too-good-to-be-true rates would most likely result in poor coverage in the event of an accident.
Well, the inevitable came, and we had an accident. I was covered under Progressive's plan at the time, and also trusting their advertising claims, I thought I had good coverage. I didn't. After a dismal and lengthy period of claim-clamoring with Progressive, I vowed that as soon as the mess was cleared up, I'd clear out - and head for Geico. I did, and I couldn't be happier!
As much as I did not wish for it to happen, another accident occurred (we hit a HERD of deer on the NY State Thruway, resulting in major damage). The bright spot in all of it was that I got to actually see Geico in action for the first time...and I do mean ACTION! The day after the accident, a Geico adjuster showed up at our door. He assisted us in making the arrangements for two different auto-repair claims - one for the engine damage at our mechanic, and one for the expenses at a body shop. Geico provided us with a rental car for the week it took to get our vehicle back, and we received our claim check within the same week! I was truly amazed. I normally expect that the old adage "you get what you pay for" would apply in cases where I try to "cut corners", but not in this case. Geico Direct provided me with superior coverage and service at minimal cost. Unfortunately, we've had a couple of more accidents since then, but each time we received the same prompt, thorough service to get us rolling as soon as possible, again and again.
I was so impressed with Geico Direct that when I purchased a vintage 1959 Chrysler a few months later, I chose to insure it with Geico instead of using the well-known Classic Car insurance company that most antique automobile dealers recommend. I know how difficult and costly it would be to replace parts and make repairs on such an odd vehicle, so Geico and their complete coverage is the one I chose to insure my prized posession.
Living in a state that has the second-highest automobile insurance rates in the country, I am delighted to have Geico Direct as my auto insurance carrier. Based on the level of service provided, I would stay with them even if their rates were higher than the average carrier, but since theirs are the lowest rates around, I am thrilled to be well-covered while saving money to boot!
