Pros: Customer service, Rates(if you're in the preferred tier)
Cons: NJM - None, NJRe - Their willingness to raise premiums for MINOR non-moving violations
The Bottom Line: I recommend them, but you're premiums are safer if you don't drive your car.

| dachmo's Full Review: New Jersey Manufacturers |
I have been insured by NJM for 5 years and have not had any problems. I was covered under my parents policy for 4 years with a clean driving history. In March 2005 I decided to buy a new car and I had to invest in my own policy. Of course I chose NJM. Because I was a young driver on a new policy, they put my on NJRe. I wasn't going to complain because their rate was $2400 for a 2005 car. Other companies quoted me at $5000-$5300.
In January of 2006 I sent in my renewal form and application for NJM. I get my quote back last week, February 9th, and to my surprise, I DON'T qualify for NJM....plus they raised my premium $1500!
I called and asked them why and they said because I had a traffic violation in May 2005. Keep in mind I have not been in any accidents or made any claims, ever. I explained that it was a non-moving violation (double parking - I was in the car too) and they said it didn't matter. They count all violations the same. So I could have gotten a ticket for 30mph over and it would have counted the same.
Be careful with NJRe. NJM is a wonderful company, but to drop your tier for double parking??? It just doesn't make any sense.
