A East side of Cleveland company, major promotion at the Cleveland Auto Show 2006 that no one could beat their rates. So I took the challenge with Westfield Insurance with their $400 every 6 month premium paired with home owners insurance at $440 a year. So first this is auto insurance only but they have a company that they can give me their info for home insurance.

So get $500 a year for my 2002 Santa Fe. Very pleased with the money I saved so I signed up & canceled the insurance I had. Then I called a phone number given to me by them for my home. This place sounded like Save Auto telling me that they give $100K coverage, no sewer backup coverage, no terrorist or commercial air coverage for airlines or medical helicopters crashing into our home. Living within 10 miles of the airport with the planes going over all day & night as well as Med Flights to Metro Hospital who is 2 miles away. So forget them. So my home insurance stayed with Ameriprise & Progressive got my Auto.
This policy must be purchased on line, which their President from London did for me at the Auto Show. I entered my credit card info also & it was billed within 2 days. Policy was d/l from their web site.
3 months later we are on vacation in Hawaii. Driving thru a parking lot we hear a large noise & we see a woman screaming at us. So I get out of my rental car & go to her car which is totaled. I see it was a former Enterprise rental car that Hawaiians get great deals on buying rentals. So I call Progressive long distance from Hawaii to Cleveland. They ask me my agent's name & I state their President signed me up at the Auto Show. They state to me that I am on line with no agent so I am to call the local Maui agent and hang up. Maui police show & take my license & insurance. He returns telling me that the other driver is drunk, my car has no damage, so I was not in an accident. So I can go. He gives me his MPD info, badge # & name, so I have proof of an accident report which I didn't need to do. I returned the car to Thrifty auto rental & my husband filming the way the Hawaiians treat you like an old friend. She is pointing to the great car we were upgraded to. I asked her to be sure that the VIN was on the receipt. I called AMEX, who cover the auto rental insurance, to tell them about the weird woman & Maui police doing the accident & that I was OK, not in an accident. They told me not to worry as they would contact Maui police for the report. All was fine per AMEX a month later.
A year later I get a large envelope from Thrifty with a car, like what I rental, totaled & I a responsible for the accident with the drunk woman. So I phone AMEX who states they pay only the deductible of $250. Then I called Progressive who states I was not covered for auto rental insurance. So I am totally responsible for this accident. I yell that my policy from the Net shows auto rental coverage & they tell me to call my agent on this. Amex calls back that the VIN number is different on this Auto than the one we rented. The Maui Accident report filed that no accident involving me as the insurance fraud person tried to state. So now I have to get an attorney for this since I am not going to court in Hawaii over this. He got MPD report, Progressive's report on this coverage, AMEX's help, and our video of the car returned with no damage with info on person who took the return from us.
Turned out the other woman was also Progressive from Maui & they were defending her even tho I am the same insurance company but not from Maui. They also take care of Thrifty. So this was insurance fraud & every penny I paid was returned by them to me. I canceled them faster than signing up to go back to AMEX's insurance called Ameriprise for their help in this. Major Hawaiian court with Thrifty upgrading me to a large car from a middle size since they wanted the wrecked one fixed by someone. Amazing how companies can rip off folks & how some insurance companies choose not to cover you.
So beware & do your investigation of insurance companies before you buy. I didn't & got taken for a ride from 2 compannies that were working together.
So be very careful with how you purchase insurance with Progressive. They were of no assistance to me and they were my insurance company.
