| DiamondLynn's Full Review: Progressive Group - Auto |
Ok Di, be calm, be rational when you write this. Don't let it turn into a rant. ~Deep breath~ Let it out..ahhh. Ok..here you go.
My husband works for a company where we travel a lot and get transferred quite often. We moved to Pennsylvania nearly two years ago..and one of the joys of having an exciting job where you relocate is the joy of reregistering, re-inspecting and reinsuring your automobile.
We shopped around for insurance and chose Progressive. We were happy that the rate was lower than the state we had moved from and were pleased with Progressive until we got our first bill.
The bills that Progressive sends out are very confusing. I think it may be easier reading a stock statement!
The amount due seemed to fluctuate on a monthly basis with no payment received ever showing. A quick call to their very helpful representatives assured me..."Yes, Mrs. Diamondlynn we have received it..please go on your merry way."
When I was getting out of my car to go rent some Blockbuster videos, and was started by a kid running passed my car, I let go of my door handle. The wind caught the door and opened it faster than I could grab the handle again and my door smooshed into the car next to me.
WHAT LUCK! It was a brand new 1999 Lexus! Just driven off the lot! Lucky me! Not only that...but the doctor that had just shelled out half a years worth of his malpractice insurance for it just happened to be getting into his car at the time!
We exchanged info and both looked..(there really was NO damage! I even have pictures!) but I reported it anyway. When I called up the service representative could not have been more friendly. "All taken care of Mrs. Diamondlynn...please forget about it..no your insurance won't go up..please go on your merry way!"
When my hubby went to put air in his tires on his way to work and locked his keys in the ignition..car running, (yes, he is cute and usually smart..I musta killed some of his brain cells that morning or something! Hehehe!) we called Progressive and they sent out a road service truck. "Not a problem Mrs. D...we will be there toot suite!"
When I called them back as their dispatched truck was pulling in to help, because I had found the spare set of keys and got to hubby first, they were more than friendly! "Thank you for calling, we will give the driver a tag for the call. Not a problem..please..go on your merry way."
My hubby and I have been traveling a lot lately. For work, business and medical reasons. I got a bill from Progressive. The bill was due 8/8. The statement showed that the payment was received 8/7. No problem right?? WRONG!
Somewhere along the way I had begun paying for the month due. Now, mind you, I am one of those anally retentive people that pays a bill as soon as it is received. So, I naturally assumed that I was up to date. I was wrong...the confusing statement style did not aide in clearing up my poor reasoning either.
Progressive has a zero tolerance policy. If your payment is due on 8/8 and you pay on 8/9 don't bother..because you will be cancelled, as I was.
I spoke to a representative on 8/7 to make SURE that my payment would be received on time! I didn't want it to go to 8/8....she told me..."Don't worry Mrs. Diamondlynn..please, please, go on your merry way. You are covered."
It is now 10/12 and I am JUST FINDING OUT that I was cancelled over a month ago! On top of that, since I have been cancelled I am now not eligible for lower rates. My insurance has doubled and I must go in to reapply for insurance. I have to have insurance TO-DAY! So my options are limited..I will need to go to Progressive again (since I WAS a customer in good standing they will take me..geeesh!) I will be signed up for nearly double what I was paying...and only for a six month term, which is a blessing.
Assuming that no forces of bad luck hit me or my beloved we can dump this company in six months when our term is up and get good insurance..with a REAL company.
All in all..their customer service was wonderful..until these passed few months. Their rates were reasonable..until I became a risk factor..*ahem!*. Their statements are horrendous and I look forward to never doing business with this company again.
