I have been a long time account for Safeco and there was once a time when I felt they were the best insurance company around. However that has now changed.

Some time ago while I was at work, my car was parked in the company parking lot. While it was parked an uninsured motorist drove their car through the lot and hit 3 vehicles. Mine was one of them. Because I had uninsured motorist protection Safeco paid my claim. I thought that was going to be the end of it.

30 days later I get a letter from Safeco stating that they would like me to appear in court for them. I told them that I would, however it would mean that I would have to take some time off of work. They in no way offered to pay for my lost wages for that day.

I get to court and find out this is a hearing about the accident. They were sueing the person who hit my car, asking the court to make them pay for all insurance costs.

The reason for this story is to express my dissatisfaction with the fact that Safeco won their case, got their money from the guilty party, and then THEY RAISED MY PREMIUMS!!

I cannot believe that I did them a favor of going to court for them, testified, lost a days wages and they still had the nerve to raise my premiums. I find that very unprofessional, and ungrateful.

Needless to say I do not use Safeco anymore. I have switched to Allstate and have been very satisfied.
