Pros: Excellent Service, Pricing, Easy Rental/Repairs
Cons: Who wants to pay for insurance?
Does anyone want to pay money for insurance? Nope. Would you like having to call your insurance company regularly to file claims? Not exactly. However, in the Northern Virginia area, its part of linvg here, due to having perhaps the worst drivers in the nation. My wife and I were customers of Geico for years, but made the switch to State Farm for good reasons. The most important was that it actually cost less, much to our surprise. While we do have a home insurance policy through State Farm, and that's part of the savings right there, I never in a "million years" thought we could save money. Both of our vehicles are 2010 models, and we are paying less than $1200 a year for a full coverage policy, with a $500 deductible. Our coverage is triple what the folks at the place of that lizard offered, which gives us much more protection, if we "screw up" and cause an accident. A lot of insurance satisfaction, is also agent based.
Our agent is an incredible lady, and I was quite irritated one morning, when I walked outside to find my trucks front end smashed. Some worthless subhuman pile of dung, had hit my truck, and didn't have the courtesy to leave a note. I could have had to pay the $500 deductible to get it repaired, but my agent quickly made it a $200 fee as an "uninsured motorist" hit. My insurance agent was wonderful dealing with throughout the whole process, and got me a rental car and fine shop in a matter of hours. When the work was finished, she called me, and has since made sure that I was satisfied with how my truck looks.
Their billing process is simple enough. Every six months, I can pay partial amounts, or the whole amount. With as low as it is, I just write them a check for the "full enchilada." Its about 15% less than what it was with the other folks, and I choose to send a check, although you can pay over the phone with a credit card. The policy is easy to read as well, and for once, its not full of small print that lawyers seem to like. Our cards aren't of the cheap variety that are made out of what used to be paper, but rather durable material that remains legible for well over six months in my wallet.
I also like having the same agent, as dealing with her is pleasant, and I don't have to go through a whole army of folks to get a question answered. They do have a 24/7 central center that can be helpful after hours, but I've had no need to use them. Also with my competitively priced policy, I get roadside assistance. This includes towing within ten miles, gas fillups if needed, or a hand with a flat tire. This offers additional peace of mind, and is just another reason to why I am a happy customer. Like any insurance company, they are a "necessity," and our newest bill has been lowered a slight bit which is an extra bonus in these "tight times."
